FAQ
What tools/software do I need to make a character?
Flash CS6 or higher. The templates are in FLA format, and the finished character needs to be exported as a SWF.
How does it work?
Inside each of the templates, there is a sample character on the stage that is split up into editable parts. Most of the parts are very simple: just double click to go into the part, redraw/modify it, and that's it! Some of the parts have some weird features, but I've tried to explain them with comments and notes inside the template.
There is also a little bit of code on the stage that you can use to determine a character's preferences and a few of their size-related traits. You can also specify artist information, which will help me determine who is helping create content for the game and provide proper attribution if I decide to share the character / integrate them into the game.
When you're done editing the character, just compile/publish the FLA to a SWF, then pull that SWF into the game like any other custom character. Once you're happy with the character, you can upload/share the SWF so other people can use it.

Who is allowed to make Rack characters?
Anyone. Have fun! :D
Does it cost anything?
Nope! Totally free. I always appreciate donations / patreon support, but they are not required. I figure that letting people add their own content to the game just makes the game better. It's a win/win situation.
What kind of characters can I make?
Rack supports characters that are generally humanoid in appearance and anatomy (2 arms, 2 legs, humanoid proportions). You are welcome to try absolutely any body style that you'd like; I just can't promise that it will work.
What kind of characters am I allowed to make?
Obey the law. Don't draw characters you don't own / have permission to draw. Don't draw anything illegal. I'd prefer that you didn't draw anything disturbing/shocking/gross, but I guess I don't really care, as long as it's not illegal.
I take absolutely no responsibility for what you do with the templates. The template files are provided as-is. If you do stupid shit and get yourself in trouble, I will not be there to help you.

Am I allowed to take commissions to draw Rack characters?
Sure! It would be kinda cool if you sent me a small cut of the commission money (10% maybe?), but I really don't care. Just don't make any false/misleading claims about who made the game, who made the templates, etc. Be honest, and there won't be any problems.
Does this mean you won't be doing any more Rack auctions?
I guess this really just depends on whether or not people want me to. I think I'd prefer to spend my time working on the game itself, for a little while, but I might still auction off characters from time to time.
Will you put my character in your gallery / into the game?
Maaaaybe. Send me a link to the finished character.
What sort of exclusivity/privacy/ownership do I have over the characters I make?
You don't relinquish any of your IP rights, and you remain the owner of the character's copyright. You do, however, provide me a few licenses:
- You give me permission to use your character SWF, which includes taking/sharing screenshots and video, but only if your character has already been made available online. I won't use characters you're still working on / using locally. If you include artist information in the character's code, I will try to credit you when I share screenshots/video of the character.
- You give me permission to rehost and share your character, but only if your character has already been made available online. I won't rehost characters you're still working on / using locally. If you include artist information, I will credit you when I share the character.
- You give me permission to use remote analytics to track the use of your character so I can see when it's available online and where it's hosted.
Why do you track custom characters?
- I'm a curious little bastard, and I like to see what people are doing with the game
- It's good to know which characters / fetishes are popular, so I can pander to the right crowd
- If a character is good enough, I might want to add it to the game / my gallery
Do you track any personal data?
Nope. Everything is tracked anonymously. We use google analytics, which collects some very basic information about your internet connection and ISP, but no personal/identifying information.
